Insurance
Privately purchased insurance that helps to pay for the custodial or chronic care services not covered by Medicare. Depending on the individual policy this care may be provided in a home setting, an assisted living facility and/or a nursing home. Custodial care can include assistance with personal care and supervision. The focus is on maintaining function rather than curing or improving a person's health.
Managed long-term care helps people who are chronically ill or have
disabilities and who need health and long-term care services, such as home
care or adult day care, stay in their homes and communities as long as
possible. The MLTC plan arranges and pays for a large selection of health
and social services, and provides choice and flexibility in obtaining
needed services from one place.
